Rs. 40157 is the gross salary of BS-17 in Punjab as per new scales. The net salary after deductions is slightly below 37000. It is for permanent employees. For contract it is higher as there are no deductions and there are more allowances. More over in this about 1500 more is added in big cities as there is 45% house rent allowance. In small cities it is 30% 0f basic.

BPS 5 scale employees taking around 23,000 and bps 17 only 37,000.it don't seems right,as per my knowledge and memory i have seen ASJ ad which is BPS 16,in year 2014 Home department was paying them 44,000 ,so bps 17 might be 50to 60,000/m
